Websol Energy was allotted 54.20 acres at Falta Industrial Park for a greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW module plant.
The West Bengal government made the allotment and the plant will be built in two phases of 2 GW each. Websol runs 1,200 MW of cell and 550 MW of module capacity today, so this is a step change in scale.

Websol Energy's promoters had 9.51 crore pledged shares released, 21.92 percent of capital.
The release follows prepayment of the entire 110 crore rupee IREDA term loan from internal accruals in August. Pledged promoter holding falls from 80 percent to 16.
