Novartis is the party ending it, and it ends to take the brands back in-house rather than to move them elsewhere. Dr Reddy's has held these exclusive promotion rights since February 2022 and keeps commercialising until 30 September, so the revenue leaves on a known date rather than a disputed one.

The product is the generic equivalent of Merck's Bridion, which recorded about 1.6 billion dollars of US sales in the twelve months to May 2026. Sugammadex reverses neuromuscular blockade after surgery, so it is a hospital and operating-theatre product bought through institutional channels rather than retail. Day-one entry matters more than the size of the brand here, because generic pricing erodes fastest in the first quarters and the early entrants take the share that remains.

The approval followed a successful pre-licence inspection at the Bachupally biologics site, so it clears manufacturing as well as the molecule. The product already sells in India, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada and more than 25 emerging markets, which means this is a commercial approval opening the largest market for a product that already carries its scale, not a trial milestone.
