The Maharashtra FDA suspended the food licence of the Colaba McDonald's outlet, operated by Westlife's subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants, with effect from 19 August.
Inspectors recorded failures on 18 of 20 safety parameters, including live cockroaches and poor temperature control in storage. The action came in a statewide drive that inspected 89 establishments, issued 71 improvement notices and suspended 13. One outlet of roughly 400 makes this a reputational event rather than a financial one.
