A captive structure carries contracted offtake from the first unit generated. That is a different risk profile from a merchant plant or a tendered PPA, where the buyer has to be found after the asset is built.

FDRE contracts pair solar, wind and storage to guarantee supply through fixed hours rather than whenever the sun is out, which is why they clear at a higher tariff than plain solar. Commissioning is the point at which capacity stops consuming capital and starts billing.

Management also flagged intent to explore nuclear through small modular reactors once cleared, and to join state discom privatisation such as in Uttar Pradesh, framing a long, capex-funded growth runway.

The project will generate about 299 million units of clean electricity a year. It marks the start of commercial operations and adds to Tata Power's growing renewable capacity.
