Shyam Metalics secured mining rights to the Phutamura coal block in Chhattisgarh, with about 170 million tonnes of reserves, through Alom Solar.
The block should feed its captive power and steel units, with coal output expected from July 2027.

Shyam Metalics' carbon steel flat volumes rose 64.5% from the June quarter to 81,493 tonnes in the September quarter.
Stainless volumes rose 28.45% to 29,847 tonnes, but carbon steel long, its largest line, fell 4.49% to 4,32,553 tonnes.

Shyam Metalics sold 10,920 tonnes of stainless steel in August, up 16.44 percent, at realisations 45.51 percent higher.
Aluminium foil volumes rose 27.41 percent. Carbon steel long products, the volume bulk of the business, grew only 2.76 percent to 1,42,897 tonnes.

Shyam Metalics commissioned a new 1.5 million tonne beneficiation plant at Sambalpur in Odisha with an investment of about 150 crore rupees.
Beneficiation upgrades low grade iron ore fines into higher iron feed, so the gain shows up in cost per tonne rather than extra sales.
