NTPC Renewable Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, won 500 MW in SECI's FDRE-IX assured peak power tender at a discovered tariff of Rs 6.00 per unit.
The tender was 6,000 MWh, or 1,500 MW across four hours, so the subsidiary took a third of it. Firm and dispatchable renewable power requires co-located storage, which is why the tariff sits at roughly twice a plain solar bid. SECI signs a 25 year power purchase agreement with selected bidders.
